Sometimes I need a poker fix pretty badly. I don't have cable television so I can't watch re-runs of the World Series of Poker on ESPN. So, where's the best place to find streaming poker videos online? My answer is PokerTube. If you go to its website and click the Poker on TV tab you will be redirected to poker Heaven.
PokerTube hosts a massive collection of poker videos, all of which have appeared on television at some time in the past. Some of the series hosted on the site include:
- The World Poker Tour
- High Stakes Poker
- World Series of Poker
- Poker After Dark
- European Poker Tour
And the list goes on. One of my favorites was Pokerstars' The Big Game. If you didn't catch it on its first televised run, it is where five professionals buy in for at least $100,000 each and play no limit texas hold'em with an amateur who supposedly won a freeroll to get on the show. The amateur is staked $100,000 by the producers of the television show and have 150 hands to make a profit.
I like The Big Game because it gives me insight into how famous professionals play the game. Also the show has a great mix between older, established players and younger professionals who learned the game online. And in the middle of it all is the "loose cannon," the nickname given all the amateurs playing.
Another show that made me want to immediately pack my bags for Las Vegas was Two Months Two Millions. This was a poker reality show where a group of young players from different parts of the US rented a home in Vegas for the summer. There they set up their online poker fortresses and were determined to win $2 million before departing.
There must be weeks of poker television shows waiting to be streamed at PokerTube. So much to watch and so little time.
